SNS Public Relations Chair, Dr. Roger Rennels is the originator of the High School Poster Contest with the co-operation and participation of the Clark County School District.   This year's theme will focus on Chemistry and Art.   There will also be a poster competition for Undergraduate and Graduate Research Posters, organized by O. Gaglione & J. Hilgar.

Contest announcement 

The Southern Nevada Section of the American Chemical Society is again hosting a poster contest.


The Theme is CHEMISTRY.

Guidelines and Rules:

1.     Open to all high school students (Grades 9-12) at a school within Clark County.

2.     Any two-dimensional format is acceptable; including paint colored pen or pencil, watercolor, marker, crayon, collage or any combination of formats.  Three-dimensional artwork will not be accepted.

3.     Each student may submit only one entry.

4.     Artwork must be original and not violate U.S. copyright law.

5.     Entries must be no smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches, and no larger than 11 inches by 17 inches on 40 lb or heavier paper.

6.     Submissions become the property of the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Chemical Society and may not be returned.

Submission Rules:

The Student Information and Media Release section must be attached to the back of each entry.


Winning Youths:

First Place Winner - $500.00, Second Place Winner - $250.00, Third Place Winner - $100.00

Winning Sponsoring Teacher:

First Place Winner - $250.00, Second Place Winner - $125.00, Third Place Winner - $50.00

The top 10 runners up will each receive $25.00

Winning Teachers will be notified by November 12, 2013.  Awards ceremony is scheduled for the evening of November 21, 2013.
