 Chemistry Poster Contest


The Southern Nevada Section of

The American Chemical Society

is again hosting a poster contest.


The Theme is


"Solving Mysteries

Through Chemistry!"


 Submission Guidelines and Rules:

1.     Open to all high school students (Grades 9-12) at a school within Clark County Nevada.

2.     Any two-dimensional format is acceptable; including paint, colored pen or pencil, watercolor, marker, crayon, collage or any combination of formats.  Three-dimensional artwork will not be accepted.

3.     Each student may submit only one entry.

4.     Artwork must be original and not violate U.S. copyright law.

5.     Entries must be no smaller than 8.5 inches by 11 inches, and no larger than 11 inches by 17 inches on 40 lb or heavier paper.

6.     Submissions will be returned upon request through the School-Community Partnership Office.   The Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Chemical Society reserves the right to display the posters and their images as it sees fit.

7.     The Student Information and Media Release section (see below) must be attached to the back of each entry.


Winning Youths:

First Place Winner - $400.00, Second Place Winner - $200.00, Third Place Winner - $100.00

Winning Sponsoring Teacher:

First Place Winner - $200.00, Second Place Winner - $100.00, Third Place Winner - $50.00

The top 8 runners up will each receive $25.00

Winners will be announced by November 14, 2016.  Awards ceremony is scheduled for November 19, 2016, from noon to 2 p.m.

In addition to artistry and creativity the judges will consider the use of this year’s theme (Solving Mysteries Through Chemistry) in determining winners. Proper chemical depictions and appropriate safety equipment and apparel use will also be considered in the judging process.
